Match Report

Midway through the third quarter on Saturday it looked like Brunswick NOBSPC would farewell Gillon Oval for this year with a victory over local rivals, Therry Penola. Alas, we couldn’t deliver the killer blow and, after surrendering the lead just before the last change, struggled to have any impact in the final term.

We therefore look to end our season at Doveton on a high against ninth placed St John’s, who remain four points and ten percent behind us on the ladder.

After an underwhelming display against Whitefriars the week before, the effort of the players could not be questioned, but our difficulties in hitting targets by hand and foot told in the end, with Therry the more efficient team going forward.

Scott Thomas played out-of-his-skin in the ruck and was clearly our best on the day. He struggled for support from an undermanned midfield, but in defence Lachlan Ezard, Cam Fox and Dean Beaumont were solid over four quarters. Gerrard Bence also found some form, although it may be some time before we see him in the purple and white again as he heads to Canberra. Chris Ford was his usual reliable self with another three goals (this time on one leg).

Get behind the boys as they look to get some reward for effort as the curtain comes down on a tough season.
